Movies and Books

I watch a lot of movies. A lot.
I don't know how frequently normal people watch movies but my guess is, I'm on the high end of the spectrum.

It is one of my goals in life to watch every movie or TV show that Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, and Heath Ledger have been in. That is, their individual works not things they have been in together. By TV shows I don't mean every interview they ever did because that would be outrageous but rather that DiCaprio was on "Growing Pains" and Depp was on "21 Jump Street" so I want to watch those. Ledger is gone so he's not still adding to his filmography.

Today, "A Knight's Tale" was on TV and I like that movie a lot. It came to the part where Ledger is riding back to his hometown in the rain and sees a little girl who recognizes him. I love that scene! It reminds me of the scene in "Titanic" where Jack and Rose go dancing in the lower deck but Jack reminds a little girl, Cora, that she is still his. I don't know what it is about those scenes, but I love them. Those little girls are so cute!

I only saw "Titanic" for the first time this previous autumn. I knew how it ended and I knew it was sad so I figured there was little point. I cried. I cried a lot. If you ever feel like you want/need to cry, that's your movie.
I think society is generally agreed that "Titanic" is a tear jerker but I bet not a lot of people cry watching "Ellen". That's right- yesterday I cried watching Ellen Degeneres when she gave a poor school a new library. I love books! It was so beautiful- I was so happy. I'm a wreck.

Yesterday, I finished "Mockingjay" which is the final book of The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. It's not a particularly difficult read, but I finished it quickly like I did the first two books. I tend to slow down with the last book of a series. I attended the midnight book premier of several of the Harry Potter books, including the final book. My Aunt Julie went with me and I remember her calling me the week after we went asking "Did you finish it yet?" and I held off because I didn't want it to be over. When I finished "Mockingjay" I just sat there. I wasn't disappointed by the ending, but just sad there was nothing more. All good books must come to an end.
